Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine for Jewellery
What Is an Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner and How Does It Work?
An ultrasonic jewelry cleaner (also called an ultrasonic cleaning machine) is a small device that uses high-frequency sound waves (typically 35–45 kHz) to clean jewelry thoroughly without scrubbing. Here’s how it works:
- You fill the tank with water (often distilled) and sometimes add a mild cleaning solution or a drop of dish soap.
- The machine generates ultrasonic waves that create millions of tiny bubbles in the liquid through a process called cavitation.
- These bubbles implode near the jewelry’s surface, producing gentle shockwaves that dislodge dirt, oils, lotions, grime, and residue — even from hard-to-reach crevices like prongs or chain links.
- Cycles usually last 3–8 minutes, and the result is sparkling jewelry that looks professionally cleaned.
It’s safe and effective for most solid gold, platinum, silver, diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. Many models also clean eyeglasses, watches (bands only), coins, and dentures.
Important Safety Warnings:
- Never use on soft/porous/organic gems: Pearls, opals, emeralds, turquoise, amber, coral, ivory, or lapis lazuli — they can crack or shatter.
- Avoid on heat-treated, fractured, or filled stones (e.g., some emeralds or enhanced color gems).
- Not ideal for heavily tarnished silver (ultrasonic removes dirt but not heavy tarnish; use a polishing cloth after).
- Don’t overcrowd the basket to prevent scratching.
How to Use One Effectively
1.Fill tank with warm water + optional mild solution (e.g., a drop of Dawn dish soap or dedicated jewelry concentrate).
2.Place jewelry in the basket (don’t let pieces touch).
3.Run a 3–5 minute cycle.
4.Rinse under clean water, dry with a soft cloth (or air dry).
5.For extra shine, follow with a polishing cloth.
Clean every 1–4 weeks depending on wear.
